1995 Pichon Longueville Lalande

I opened this and let it sit for about 30 minutes before really sampling it.  It is beautifully structured, tannic but smooth – very smooth.  The finish was exceptional.  Definitely some pencil lead and blackberry.  It evolved somewhat over the next hour and it paired very nicely with a tenderloin/asiago cheese creation and the University Club in Milwaukee.

Cruising in the Galapagos

We returned from our March trip to the Galapagos islands a couple of weeks ago, but I still think about it every morning, remembering the music that would waft over the intercomin the stateroom to gently nudge us awake.

We boarded the M/V Evolution on a Saturday morning after flying into San Cristobol from the mainland.  We were greeted by the crew with cold towels and mango juice on the stern deck of this beautiful 190 foot vessel.  After a quick brieifing and safety drill, we went back to our cabin and the boat was underway.

The subsequent days flew by with a mix of morning hikes and snorkeling expeditions, lunch, a siesta and then an afternoon expedition.
